Dr. Isabel Saulnier
Biography
Dr. Isabel Saulnier is an Of Counsel with UTF and based out of the firm’s Houston office. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas and in the Federal Republic of Germany. Dr. Saulnier’s practice focuses on Business Law, Family Law, and Estate Planning/Probate in an international context. In particular, she has assisted European clients with establishing their business in the US, from the creation of the legal entity to production, procurement and supply agreements. Moreover, she has helped clients to register, enforce and modify divorce judgments and custody orders on both sides of the Atlantic. In her family law practice, especially involving custody arrangements, but also with regard to prenuptial agreements, Dr. Saulnier has a holistic approach, which considers the family as a whole, despite the (potential) conflicts, and tries to reconcile and mediate rather than divide, while aiming to obtain the best results for her client.
Before joining UTF, Dr. Saulnier worked as an Associate at the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (international litigation, arbitration, merger control) and as a Case Handler at the European Commission, DG Competition (merger control and general antitrust cases). She holds a Master-of-Laws Degree (LL.M.) from NYU School of Law (honors: Fulbright Scholarship), and law degree and doctorate degree (Dr. jur. summa cum laude, honors: Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) from University of Heidelberg.
Her doctoral thesis on international jurisdiction of courts in disputes based on agreements concluded over the Internet was published in 2004 (under her maiden name Scheuermann). In addition to that, she has repeatedly contributed to a commentary on European and German Antitrust Law.
