Estate Proceedings in Florida and the United States with a special focus on non-US residents

Are you a foreign relative of a person who passed away in the USA? Or did a deceased family member of yours own real estate in the US, but you are residing outside of America? Were you just informed of the death of a person in the US and of being a potential heir and you do not know which steps to take now?

Did you inherit in America and are you living outside of the state of Florida, maybe even in Germany or the United Kingdom and the deceased owned assets in the US?

Urban Thier & Federer, P.A. and its attorneys have been involved in many US probate and estate matters with international implications. A particular focus of this law firm practice is on probate and estate matters in the state of Florida, but we also assist clients with regards to inheritance matters in many other US states. Via its European offices in Munich, Manchester and London, we also assist US heirs in German or British probate matters.

In the US, in order to clear title to assets such as tangible and real property after a person has passed away, it is frequently necessary to open a probate case in the appropriate court. In the process, an estate will be opened and usually, a person will be appointed to represent the estate. The estate pays debts of the deceased, inclusive of taxes and eventually transfers ownership of assets to the living beneficiaries.

Of course, this law firm also represents residents of the state of Florida in domestic estate proceedings.

Please contact us if you need help with estate and probate proceedings. We can guide you through the unfamiliar process in the US and also assist with the issue of US and international estate and inheritance taxation.

Please note that Urban Thier & Federer, P.A. does not represent you and cannot take any action on your behalf unless and until you enter into a formal written Legal Representation Agreement.
